Most of the modern day amateur radio equipment enables you to control it via the computer. I can control both of my ICOM radios using ham radio deluxe. There is also a built in rotator control within HRD that enables you to control your rotator. I used it for a while but I found it rather temperamental and it often crashed and stopped working. However, a few months ago Codrut, YO3DMU contacted me with a very kind offer, basically he gave me a free license to use his PSTrotatorAz rotator control software. Actually, it was two or three months before I even looked at it, it was only after getting so frustrated with HRD rotator control, I then decided to take a look and see what it was all about.

I don't think I have been using PSTRotator control for more than 5 min before I knew I would never look back. The installation process was quick and painless and only took a couple of minutes. Setting the software up was a piece of cake, if you're familiar with HRD or any other log program software then you shouldn't really have a problem with this software. Even if you haven't used any software before it really shouldn't pose a problem. All you need to know is your locator information, the software uses this to control your rotator and make sure that it points in the correct position.

I have included an image of what the software looks like when it's open on your desktop. As you can see it's fairly simplistic and very straightforward. I like the fact that you just click on a position on the azimuth and your beam will then be repositioned, you can stop it at any time. You can also type in a prefix other country and the software will give you a beam heading and enable you to relocate your beam with just a click of a button.

This is a really great piece of software that for just €15 is well worth the money. There isn't an actual support forum, but there is a Yahoo group that will give you any help that you require. Codrut himself is also a very active member of the Yahoo group and will offer one-to-one support if and when required.
