Today was a day when I only spoke to stations in North America, makes a change, don't get me wrong I don't mind working into Europe, but sometimes it gets a bit monotonous when all you get coming back to you is Italian's, but, they often save the day when there's nothing else on the bands, especially 10 m.

The majority of the US stations I worked today were on the East Coast, however there were a few who were further afield. Gary, N7RMS called in from what I'm sure you will agree is a great name for a town, Lava Hot Springs, apparently not far from Yellowstone National Park. He wasn't particularly strong, about 5/4. I spoke to a couple of guys up in British Columbia which is on the west coast of Canada, quite a way up so that was a good contact in my books. Funnily enough, VE7VF was an expat from the UK and was aptly named "David Frost". He wasn't particularly strong but we did manage to have quite a nice chat. Even though he's been there since the late 50s, it's amazing how he is still got a 100% British accent, you wouldn't even know he is from North America.

I must just mention Dennis, W4USR who had just started using his new  TS2000 along with a $39 microphone that he just picked up at RadioShack. Forget all your expensive graphic equaliser equipment, his modulation was absolutely fantastic, look forward to the next QSO Dennis.
