Thankfully there were no contests today so we weren't just restricted to the WARC frequencies. YB0MWM was absolutely romping into the UK this morning so I couldn't help but give him a call, a very good 59 both ways. There was some good conditions on 17 m and I worked mainly European stations although FR5EC from Reunion did drop in for a quick QSO and was giving me a good 55 on his dipole antenna and 100 W.

OX3KQ was a huge signal on 15 m, although it did take a while before I knew where he was, it is a good idea to mention your call sign every now and then and not just when people ask you.

After my evening meal I went on to 20 m and it was wide open to North America and I had a really enjoyable hour or so working some very strong stations from Georgia right up to British Columbia in Canada.

I did another antenna test/comparison on 12 m this afternoon. ZS1A was giving me a very big signal so I thought it was about time I tested out the SIRIO Gain Master. I had to laugh, Steve M0BKL was listening to the same station and worked Johann using his IMAX 2000 vertical. Even though the SIRIO GM vertical is only meant to be used on the CB and 10 meter amateur radio frequencies, it tunes up really well on some of the lower bands. As you can see by the video, it performed outstandingly. Just remember that if you do use one of these antennas on frequencies is is not made for, please do not forget to use your tuner.

My QSO with ZS1A using both my SIRIO Gain Master and my three element SteppIR

After a very enjoyable QSO with W0EVE (Ray) who told me he really like Benny Hill, I thought he might like the following video which features the song "Ernie, the fastest milkman in the West"
